Safety & Trust at ORYN Quest

Last updated: March 31, 2026

The safety of children and families is at the core of everything we build. ORYN Quest implements multiple layers of protection to ensure a trusted marketplace for children's activities.

This page is part of the ORYN Quest testing-phase release. Final launch content may expand or change before public production rollout.

1. Vendor review and approval

Every vendor must complete a comprehensive onboarding process before listing activities on ORYN Quest. This includes providing business information, contact details, location verification, and signing our Vendor Participation Agreement and Vendor Code of Conduct. All vendor applications are reviewed by ORYN Quest administrators before approval, and listings are screened before they go live — the address is geo-verified and the first photo is checked to confirm it really is a children's activity. Vendors must maintain accurate information about their qualifications, certifications (including autism-friendly and insurance acceptance), and facility details. Vendors who are pending approval, rejected, or suspended cannot manage listings or accept bookings. To be clear about the limits of that review: qualifications, certifications, and insurance are self-reported by the vendor, and ORYN Quest does not run criminal background checks — each vendor is an independent business responsible for screening its own staff, as set out in our Background Check Policy.

2. Quality monitoring

ORYN Quest actively monitors vendor quality through parent reviews and ratings. Vendors are expected to maintain a rating of 4 stars or above. Vendors whose average rating drops below this threshold may be placed on probation and subject to additional review. Persistent quality issues may result in suspension or removal from the platform. Parents can leave honest reviews after completing a booking, and all reviews are visible to other families to inform their decisions.

3. Booking safety features

Our booking system includes several safety features: capacity limits to prevent overcrowding (vendors set maximum participants per session), age range requirements so children are placed in age-appropriate activities, waitlist management with automatic holds and expiry, and the same cancellation schedule on every activity — cancel more than 48 hours ahead and your credits come back in full, or between 24 and 48 hours ahead for half back. Parents receive booking confirmations and reminders via email, and all bookings appear in the in-app calendar for easy tracking.

4. Accessibility and accommodations

ORYN Quest helps families find activities that match their children's needs. Vendors can indicate accommodations including: small class sizes, quiet zones, sensory-friendly environments, one-on-one support, flexible pacing, break room access, wheelchair accessibility, and whether parents are welcome or required to stay. Autism-friendly and insurance-acceptance indicators are clearly displayed — these are the provider's own self-reports, not credentials ORYN Quest has verified, so confirm accommodations and insurance directly with the provider before you book. Families can filter the Explore page by these accommodations to find the best fit.

5. Community safety

Our community features are designed to be family-safe. All user-generated content is sanitized to prevent malicious code injection (XSS). Rate limiting prevents spam and abuse in messaging. Community groups can be set as public or private, with group creators able to approve or deny membership requests. Users can control their profile visibility (public, joined communities only, or followers only). Anonymous posting is available for sensitive topics while still being subject to moderation.

6. Data protection for children

Children's personal information is handled with extra care in compliance with COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act). Children never hold accounts on ORYN Quest — only parents and guardians can create and manage children's profiles, and that information is used solely for activity matching and booking accommodations. When you book, the vendor receives only what they need to run that activity and check your child in: your child's name, age, avatar, and the accommodation and support details you chose to share. What the vendor portal never shows: your child's date of birth, developmental goals, behavior notes, or insurance details. See our Privacy Policy for full details on data handling.

7. Secure payments

All financial transactions are processed through Stripe, a PCI DSS Level 1 certified payment processor. ORYN Quest never stores your full credit card numbers. The credit-based system adds an additional layer of separation between payment and booking, so vendors never see your payment information. Vendor bank account details are masked in the platform UI.

8. Reporting concerns

If you encounter a safety concern, inappropriate content, or a problem with a vendor, please contact us immediately at support@orynquest.com. You can also use the in-app reporting features in community posts and messaging. We take all safety reports seriously. Live support is available Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM Pacific Time; outside those hours a person replies within 1–2 business days. If anyone is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. In cases of immediate danger, please contact local emergency services first.
